Now don’t get me wrong, I love Hibachi. It’s entertaining, interactive, and delicious. But just because it’s Asian and has healthy ingredients does not mean that it's good for you. I was reminded of this when talking to my friend Twanna. She’s been eating healthy but last night she went to a Hibachi restaurant with her friends. Well, let’s just say the meal went in and out!!!
So, I got to thinking about when I went with my home girls to 10 East in Bayonne. While our chef made our meal, I can only imagine that I had the most horrified look on my face when I saw all of that butter, salt, and soy sauce he poured on the food. He would smile, and then pour butter on the meat. Smile again and pour massive quantities of soy sauce on the rice and smile again and make some pop culture reference to distract the audience from all of the other fattening lard being poured on our meal. Now that I think about it...it's like they were getting off making us fat and playing stupid...but I digress. I didn’t want to touch my dinner after I saw that ish, and now looking back, I really wish I would have told him to go easy on those extras (but I didn’t want to be a pain, you know?). Well, I wish I did, because I barely touched my food and I wrapped it up and gave it to my sister the next day. I tried to play it off and get full off of the soup and salad but that didn’t work out too well, and needless to say I was HUNGRY!
Bottom line, what I am saying is, if you go don’t think you're having the most nutritious meal in the world just go for some fun, laughs, and good eats. Or do what I should have done, and tell your server to go easy on the extras, and do it with No Apologies peeps!!!!!
