SORE LOSER

So on Saturday I hadone kick ass leg workout. Im talking about squats and lunges on the smith machine. Leg extensions superset with hamstring curls, leg presses, and to top it all of deadlifts very slow and controlled. After that I felt like I was on top of the world...Until about 7am the next morning. When I felt the most tightening pain in my hamstrings. Can we say Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness or what? DOMS is the pain or discomfort often felt 24 to 72 hours after excerising and it usually subsides after 2 to 3 days. Even though I warmed up I forgot to stretch my legs , I didn't do a cool down, and to top it off I lifted heavier weights than usual. So DUH...I was feeling it the next day.

Because of this nagging pain in my leg I was tempted to skip the gym but I know better. Here are some helpful tips.

1) Take a long hot bath

There is nothing like some suds and epsom salt to take you away

2) Use mineral ice

After my bath I massaged the pain away with this soothing cream. It's good to keep a jar handy around the house.

3) Walk

Walking is a great low impact workout that will help stretch and lengthen your leg muscles. For a better stretch walk up a steep hill or use a challenging incline on the treadmill

4) Swimming

Water helps to soothe those achy joints. Hit the local pool and swim some slow laps.

So be careful, prep before your routine, and stop trying to impress chicks ;)

  1. I'm mad you used a picture of Lebron for this post. LOL! I wrote something excusing him from his brat-ish behavior a couple weeks ago.
