ACAI BERRY....I AM NOT A FAN

Okay so last week my coworker asked for my opinion on the whole Acai berry phenomenon . As soon as she uttered those words I quickly turned up my nose and said with a disgusted look...ummm "WASTE OF MONEY!"

First of all I am not a fan of any overnight sensation promising an end to all of life's problems in a can. Secondly I am also sketchy of a product that is endorsed by celebrities to which my coworker griped, "Hey but Dr. Oz, Oprah, and Rachel Rey are promoting this stuff...so it must be good?!" To which I retorted if you gave me tons of money to say that everyone should get a Mohawk well then I would tell you that a Mohowak would be a great look for you. I also told her that besides all of the gimmicky hype around the drink if you check the nutrional content it has 40+ grams of carbs of which 22 grams come from sugar. So you are drinking something that is half sugar!!!! No wonder you are full of all that boundless energy they claim you will have. Bascially all of these "To GOOD TO BE TRUE" products follow a similar format.

1) Take something foreign and bring it to the states- We tend to think that if something is made in a faraway land (let's say the Amazon) then it must be good for you

2) Get celebrities to endorse it - Much like all that proactive product

3) Make a tempting offer - Oh yeah people were complaining that the free trial period is not so free. You have 7 days to try it and get a full refund, however they sucker you because from the moment you purchase it, it's yours and you don't get it until the 6th day and your card gets charged $85...Isn't that nice?!?!?

4) Promise all of your life's problem will go away with little effort - If all you had to do was drink something and it would magically burn off the fat don't you think the obeseity rates in this country would drastically go down???

To make the situation funnier my coworker came to me this afternoon and said that Oprah and Dr. Oz were on Good Morning America saying that they never endorsed this product and they were suing.

People do not beleive the hype!!
Slow and steady wins the race...No Apologies peeps!

  1. Thanks for the feedback on the Acai berry rave, I have been think9ng about it myself. It's true that most of us are looking for a quic fix, I have spent so much money on diets and equipment and gym memberships that I have never used like they were meant to be used, that if I could take that money I spent on on those wonderful get in shape lose weight quick gimmicks or products, I would have a nice nest egg save towards my retirement right now...I kid u not, when I add up the items, products or services that coulda, shoulda woulda taken the weight off I just shake my head at myself...over $5000.00 in 5 years, that is sad. I am in total agreement that slow and steady will win the lose weight race. Thanks Cameesha...
