It’s true that you never miss what you have until it’s gone. Truer words could not be spoken right now. OHHH how I miss my protein shakes. This is my last week of training for an upcoming competition and as per usual I cannot have my delicious and nutritious shakes to fill my belly in between meals. Ughhh!! But come Monday I will be back on that good stuff. Protein shakes are an essential part of anyone’s diet regimen not just athletes. The only way you can realistically have 6 meals a day is to use some sort of meal replacement. Me personally, I prefer to use protein shakes. My shake of choice is the grape flavor Isopure. It’s already mixed, so that means I don’t have to get up from my cubicle, mix it in the kitchen, and do the clean up afterwards. I just simply drink it and go! I only drink half of the serving because it contains 40 grams of protein per bottle. I just drink one in between breakfast and lunch, and then the other between lunch and dinner. If I’m still hungry (which I usually am) I will have half of it for my last meal. When I’m not competing, my favorite is to mix the protein powder with soy milk and add 5 strawberries and a handful of blueberries. It’s really thick and creamy and it tastes like a real shake, and bottom line, it's just healthy!!! Again, I only use half of the scoop because the powder can sometimes come in at 50 grams per servings.
So go ahead and give a meal replacement a try, it can only benefit you right?

Does that taste as unpleasant as it look? Matter is definitely beating the mind right now but I will get in shape one day.
ReplyDeletelol...the grape isopure has a bit of an aftertaste but it's not that bad in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteBut the shakes are good especially when you add fresh or frozen fruit!!
I tasted the grape isopure (complements of Cameesha) and I must say you get a little aftertaste during the first couple of sips. After that, you should be fine... It's not bad at all...
ReplyDeleteI agree. Protein shakes play a major role in my daily meal plan. I have to try the isopure for the sake of convenience. It looks refreshing to me. What type of protein is used in this drink?
ReplyDeleteI am exploring different types of protein supplements. I use Whey protein before and after a workout. For snacks, I have been using the Organic Hemp Protein. The Organic Hemp Protein Powder has 13 grams of protein, 9 grams of fiber, .5 grams sugar per serving. I usually blend it with frozen fruit-bananas, strawberries, and or mangos.
Isopure uses whey protein isolate which is a higher quality than whey protein concentrate which most whey proteins are. The difference between the two is that isolate gives you more protein with less lactose (sugar) and fat than whey. Because this protein is more pure it costs a little extra..but you are worth it!!!
ReplyDeleteI never had a protein shake. I think I am going to try this and get back to you. Thanks for the tips!
