It isn't very often that I retain what people tell me. In one ear and out the other. But ten years ago I listened to a helpful nugget from Dr. Rudy Bottei.
This short spunky old man said something that I try to do everyday: OPTIMIZE YOUR PRIME TIME!! The more activity you schedule in your 9-5 routine the better. For me it is a struggle to take advantage during work hours but during my down time I must take care of me.
Now it may not be feasible to exercise during work. But have you ever thought about sitting on a physioball while at your desk??
Some of the fru fru people at our New York office started doing this and while us Jersey folk gave them the side eye. It turns out that they were on to something. Here are some benefits:
1) Your spine will align- Since an physioball is not stable, your body needs to try to balance itself on it. Perfect spinal posture is the easiest to balance with. So your body will try to align itself into the proper posture.
2) You are already at the gym - Another great thing about using this alternative, is that you can do stretches or mini-workouts whenever you want, without getting up. Because it’s much more convenient, you will probably do it more, thus resulting in better health.
3) Improves your circulation - Using an exercise ball will keep the blood flowing to all parts of your body, throughout the day.
4) Burn calories!!! - Active sitting burns more calories than "quiet" sitting. As long as you followup with a healthy meal plan you will be well on your way to burning those fatty pounds.
Now I did give it the old college try. But it lasted a total of 45 minutes..lmao (my back started hurting). I think I will order the chair that comes with it so I can take advantage of all of these benefits. Click here to get one yourself!!
